One
Day Conference on Realities and Diversities: Emerging Trends in Language,
Literature and Society
PG and Research Department of English organized a One Day Conference on Realities and
Diversities: Emerging Trends in Language, Literature and Society on
22.02.2023. The inauguration of the conference began at 9 30 am. The chief
guest, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of English, the dignitaries
and participants joined the conference at the right time.
The event started off on a solemn note. Mr. Abdul
Rahman of II M.A. English read a few verses from the Holy Quran along with
translation. Our Vice Principal and Head of the Department of English welcomed
the gathering. Our respected Treasurer honoured the Chief Guest with a shawl
and a momento. Our college treasurer offered felicitations. Dr. A. Mohamed Mustafa
explained the theme of the Conference, stressing on the changing contours of
modern day learning, from print to digital and to micro. He pointed out the
shift in learning platforms.
Dr. A. Ajmal Khan, the Organizing Secretary of the
Conference introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. Sandeep Kumar Yadav, Associate
Professor in SLCE, University of Delhi.
The keynote address was delivered by the Chief Guest
who enlightened the audience on the connotations of Bakthi literature with
examples from literatures of several Indian languages. The inauguration came to
an end with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. A. Fahmida Banu, Associate
Professor of English.
After the tea break, five technical sessions were held
at five different venues. The forenoon session was chaired by Dr. D.
Dhanalakshmi, Associate Professor of English, Periyar EVR College, Trichy.
The subsequent sessions followed. Dr. S. Ganesan,
Associate Professor of English, HH Raja’s College, Pudukottai, Dr. P. David
Livingstone, chairman, Board of Studies for UG and Part II English,
Bharathidasan University, Dr. V. Jayapaul, Assistant Professor and Head of the
Department of English, St. Joseph’s College, Trichy and Dr. G. Moorthy,
Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of English, Government Arts and
Science College, Perembalur served as chairpersons. The sessions were
coordinated by the session in charges namely; Professor Shiek Ismail, Dr.
Jamesha Mohideen, Dr. M. Shajahan Sait, Dr. Parvas Sharif and Dr. Arunachalam.
The Conference provided meaningful platform for more
than hundred paper presenters. A few paper presenters gave their feedback. The
conference came to an end at 4 pm after the distribution of certificates to the
paper presenters.
