Any teacher education course seeks to train teacher having requisite teaching skills. Practicum approach adopted in the modern teacher education course is to place a student teacher in a classroom situation under the supervision of a qualified teacher.

The aim of internship program is to incorporate teaching skills among the student teachers. Internship program is an effective way to give training to the student-teachers about real world of work. It give them an opportunity to integrate theory and practice, plan and deliver lessons properly, critically analyze their own and peers teaching styles and improve them in the light of feedback given by supervisors. Through this program they understand the role and responsibilities of professional teachers

Internship program also give them opportunity to understand different aspects of school program and improve their skills and abilities in teaching profession. An effective and improved internship program is required in developing student-teachers personalities as true professionals in field of education.

As a student of B. Ed, have to complete the 4 months Internship Programme. The program is prescribed by the NCTE. It is a compulsory program for affiliated colleges and universities that provides B. Ed Degree. This is applicable for the two years B. Ed course students. For becoming a perfect and genius teacher have to compulsorily attend the 4 months B. Ed internship program.

Internship Programme: Student teachers stay for full day in the schools during the working hours and participate in the school processes is called internship programme.

Objectives of Teaching Practice

To provide an opportunity of evaluating the students potential as a teacher and suitability for the teaching profession.

To provide the future teachers with experience in school to overcome the problem of discipline and enable him/her develop method of control.

To provide an opportunity to put theories into practice and develop deeper understanding of educational principles and their implication of learning.

To enable the student teachers effectively plan and prepare lessons.

To develop skills in the use of fundamental procedures, techniques and method of teaching.

To enable students acquire desirable characteristics/traits of a teacher and display appropriate behaviour.

To develop desirable professional; interest, attitudes and ideas relative to teaching profession.

To provide student-teacher with opportunity to have teaching evaluation and to gain from constructive criticism.

To provide an opportunity for self-evaluation and to discover one`s strength and weakness.
