INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)
Establishment
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Jamal Mohamed College was established on 04 February 2005 as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure in accordance with the guidelines of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The IQAC was constituted with the primary objective of developing a system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of the institution. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC has become an integral part of the institutional system and works towards the realization of quality enhancement and quality sustenance.
The IQAC plays a pivotal role in performance evaluation, assessment, accreditation, and quality upgradation of the institution and makes a significant contribution in the post-accreditation phase.
Objectives
The IQAC of the College is committed to achieving the following objectives, in line with NAAC guidelines:
- To develop a system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution
- To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of a quality culture
- To ensure continuous improvement in teaching–learning, research, extension, and governance processes
- To facilitate the integration of various academic and administrative activities and institutionalize best practices
- To provide a sound basis for decision-making to improve institutional functioning
- To act as a change agent for quality improvement initiatives
- To enhance internal communication and build a learner-centric environment
Activities
In accordance with NAAC guidelines, the IQAC undertakes the following activities for quality enhancement and sustenance:
- Development and implementation of action plans for academic and administrative activities
- Facilitation of the introduction of new academic programmes in consultation with the management
- Promotion and monitoring of infrastructural development to support teaching, learning, and research
- Coordination of departmental quality initiatives and interactions with IQAC
- Monitoring and promotion of research and innovation activities
- Organization of Internal and External Academic Audits
- Promotion of ICT-enabled teaching–learning practices
- Monitoring the implementation of term-wise teaching plans
- Capacity-building programmes for non-teaching staff on automation and e-governance
- Promotion of participatory and learner-centric pedagogical practices
- Facilitation of soft skills and employability enhancement programmes
- Implementation of the Mentoring / Tutor–Ward System
- Organization of student induction and orientation programmes
- Encouragement of student participation in academic and administrative decision-making
- Implementation of self-assessment and performance appraisal systems for teaching staff
- Collection, analysis, and utilization of stakeholder feedback for quality improvement
- Support and monitoring of Guidance and Counselling Services
- Strengthening of Coaching and Placement Cell activities
- Recognition of students as key stakeholders in institutional quality initiatives
- Encouragement and support for innovative practices by faculty members and students
- Systematic documentation of quality-related activities and institutional best practices
- Preparation and submission of Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR), UGC Progress Reports, Triennial Inspection Reports, and other statutory reports as required
