The Research activities of Jamal Mohamed College function with the following objectives:
► To integrate research activities in basic as well as applied research relating to societal and career development.
► To create transparent, effective and efficient systems for innovative research and outputs.
► To motivate the students, faculty members and scholars to undertake quality research and to publish quality research papers.
► To assist and get external funded projects offered by agencies such as UGC, DST, DBT, AICTE, BARC, TNSCST etc.
► To create awareness on IPR and encourage to get patents

Awards Criteria:
► The College Management has instituted Jamal Research Excellence Awards, in order to encourage, motivate and recognize the outstanding achievements of the faculty members in research and innovations in the field of their expertise.
► Two awards (one for faculty of science and the other for the faculty of arts and management) will be given for each of the following categories:
1. Best Senior Researcher Award (For age group above 40 years)2. Best Junior Researcher Award (For age group upto 40 years)
3. Best Woman Researcher Award
► Selection will be made, by the Awards Committee on the basis of the significant scholarly contributions towards research in the following areas:

DST – FIST
About DST – FIST
Our college has been selected under the DST – FIST Scheme for "Strengthening of Research Infrastructure" by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India. DST has sanctioned Rs. 110.00 lakhs (Rupees One Crore Ten lakhs only). Rs. 60.5 lakhs (Rupees Sixty lakhs fifty thousand) has been already received as first instalment. During this academic year (2021-2022), Rs. 45.25 lakhs (Rupees Forty-four lakhs twenty-five thousand only) has been released for the second instalment. Under "DST – FIST Programme" Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer, Fourier Transform Raman Spectrometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and Analytical Cum Semi Preparative Binary Gradient HPLC instruments have been purchased and installed using the DST-FIST Fund. Further construction of e-learning classroom and providing networking facilities under this scheme are in progress.
