STUDENT INDUCTION PROGRAM for I B.Sc., Zoology (2023-2024)

Day I: 14-06-2023, Wednesday

Jamal Mohamed College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli organized a week long Student Induction Programme from 14/6/2023 to 20/6/2023 for the first - year Under Graduate students who have joined in the academic year 2023-24. This course is aimed at bridging the gap between the school and the college. On the first day of the programme 14.06.2023, as many as 1200 men and 620 women students admitted into various programmes have participated. The students are to be given a thorough Orientation and understanding on 26 aspects such as the Curriculum, Library resources, Examination and Evaluation methods, Campus Placements, Centre for Extension Activities, etc., along with an additional 15-hour Bridge Course on English and Computer Literacy Programmes.

At the inauguration Dr. D.I. George Amalarethinam, Vice-Principal, welcomed the gathering. Dr. A.K. Khaja Nazeemudeen, Secretary and Correspondent, Hajee M.J. Jamal Mohamed, Treasurer and Dr. K. Abdus Samad, Assistant Secretary felicitated the new entrants. During the inaugural session Dr. S. Ismail Mohideen, Principal of the College delivered the Presidential address during which he detailed the rules and regulations of the College and introduced the various Heads of the Departments along with administrative officials. Then, Dr. K. Prabakar, Coordinator of Student Induction Programme explained the details and need of the week long Programme. Dr. A. Ishaq Ahamed, Additional Vice-Principal, proposed a Vote of Thanks. Dr. K.N. Abdul Khader Nihal, Director & Hon. Member, Dr. K.N. Mohamed Fazil, Director, Hostel Administration, and Ms. J. Hajira Fathima, Director, Hostel Administration- Women, Bursar, Controller of Examinations, Co-ordinators, HODs, MIDs and Professors graced the occasion.

After completion of this meeting at the Abdul Gafoor Auditorium (NBAG Hall), the students of I year B.Sc.Zoology were led into the Zoology Seminar Hall by NSS Volunteers. Dr. I. Joseph Antony Jerald, Head of the Department of Zoology welcomed the freshers and spoke of to the College Founders and former stalwart Professors whose tireless efforts have brought the Department this far. He extended his speech mentioning the various facilities available in the Department – namely Library, Laboratory, Classrooms and Museum etc., The second and third day of the Student Induction (15.06.2023 & 16.06.2023) included lectures by all the staff members of the Zoology Department.
