The Department of Chemistry (SF-Women), Jamal Mohamed College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, organized a special lecture program on 7<sup>th</sup> November 2022, to commemorate National Cancer Awareness Day. The program aimed to raise awareness about cancer prevention and early detection. The event began at 3:30 p.m. with a Qirath, seeking the blessings of Almighty.
Dr. Sasipriya Govindaraj, Radiation Oncologist, Harshamitra Super Speciality Hospital, Nagamangalam, Trichy delivered a compelling speech on the topic, "Women Cancers: What you should know". She emphasized that cancer is preventable and curable, highlighting the importance of early detection, diet, and exercise in cancer prevention. She also stressed that cervical cancer can be completely cured with the HPV vaccine, and HPV vaccination, along with HPV DNA testing for married women, can help detect and prevent cancer at an early stage. She encouraged young women to protect themselves from cancer through awareness campaigns like this.
