Group Discussion on Economic Crisis of Sri Lanka and its impact on India

The PG and Research Department of Economics under Economics Association have organized a group discussion on “Economic Crisis of Sri Lanka and its Impact on India” on Saturday 23rd April 2022 among students.  The students of BA and MA Economics were participated in the discussion. Dr.A.Hidayathulla associate professor of Economics acted as recourse person for the discussion. The moderator explained the rules and regulations of the group discussion and gave brief introduction regarding the Economic problem of Sri Lanka .The group discussion is divided into three rounds. The round one which is titled as “understanding the economy of Sri Lanka”explains the working of the SriLankan economy ,Round two which is titled as “Problems And Reasons”examines the problems faced by SriLankan economy and its reasons, Round three which is titled as “ The solutions” attempt to give solutions to the problem of Sri Lankan economy. It was noted that, the lack of energy import results in low productivity across all the sectors of the economy, especially it decreased the production of tea and textile industry which was a huge source of foreign earnings of Sri Lanka. The solutions for these problems were presented in the third and final round of the discussion. The immediate measure is to import energy sources, once it was imported by the way of loans from IMF, the country should try to increase the productivity of tea and textile industry. It will normalize the situation. The moderator answered the questions asked by the students at the end of the final round of the discussion.
