Dr. S. Mohamed Mohideen, Member In-charge & Assistant Professor, of the department

welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest Dr. M. PITCHAIMANI, Principal,

Srimad Andavan Arts & Science College, Tiruchirappalli.

Dr. K. ABDUS SAMAD, Assistant Secretary felicitated the gathering.

The chief guest Dr. M. PITCHAIMANI, Principal, Srimad Andavan Arts & Science College,

Tiruchirappalli noted earlier any vision of the future has to be rooted in the current reality and

policies and processes have to be identified to bridge the gap between the current reality and the future vision. He has outlined key pillars of leadership identification. He was also enlightened the hiring philosophy of companies. Moreover he said, While it is common for companies to hire on a needs-based basis, we need to have a more strategic approach to recruiting – one geared towards hiring people with the potential to be leaders. This means that on top of the skills competencies that are the baseline for considering any candidate, we should also assess the potential of the individual to be a leader within the company one day. He was also pinpointed A structured, strategic training programme is integral to this, and should consist of job rotations to help employees become multi-functional as well as to be able to multi-task. The organization should also provide opportunities for selected employees to front high value customers, equipping them with valuable relationship management skills.

The chief guest explained some behaviour assessment models which enable organization should assess an individual’s ability to empathize, to influence, and to be able to garner support for special projects. Specific emphasis should also be given to nurturing the learning agility of the individual, and his or her adaptability to different situations. This is important as a leader will be relied upon to steer his or her company or department through many challenges – i.e. changes in the economic climate, evolving customer needs, increased competition, organizational restructuring, regulatory changes and others.

Finally, Dr. S. SALEEM, Vice President of BBA Association proposed the vote of thanks.
